Finding Those You Served With

As time goes, it is easy for past connections and friendships to drift apart and for people to loose contact with one another. Maybe you are curious to find out if SGT Smith’s 3rd marriage to a stripper panned out or you are in desperate need for someone to write a Buddy statement from someone who witnessed PVT Jones running over your foot in the motor pool with the 5 ton.

Thankfully there are several resources out there to help you re-connect!

VA Mail Forwarding

  1. Write your buddy a letter.

  2. Place letter in an UNSEALED, STAMPED envelope with your return address written on it.

  3. Write a separate letter to the VA explaining who you are trying to reach - include AS MUCH detail as you can such as!

    • Full name

    • Date of birth

    • Dates of service

    • Units of assignment

    • etc.

  4. Put everything into another envelope.

  5. Address the envelope to your nearest VA Regional Office

  6. Pay the postage and mail it off.

  7. If the VA can identify your buddy, has a record for them, AND your letter is something… okay to forward, they will seal and send your letter out. At which point it is up to your buddy to contact you if they want to.
